{ They Say it's Your Birthday! }

It was my birthday yesterday! I love my birthday. It is one of my favorite days! After a yummy waffle breakfast, my kids gave me their homemade cards. I love homemade cards from my kids. They are my favorite kind.

Ms. Sassypants {along with help from the little girls} made me cupcakes. They stuffed one of them with candles. It was an inferno! They thought it was great.

It was a wonderful & relaxing day with my family...just how I like it!

I'm off to Disneyland, today, with Boo to celebrate that she is fully potty trained. Yay!

Miss California USA Agrees With Obama and Elton John on Gay Marriage

By Mark Joseph

Miss California USA, Carrie Prejean, doesn’t agree with the notion of gay marriage. Now, according to some, that makes her a bad person. Asked by judge Perez Hilton about the issue at the Miss USA pageant, Prejean replied: “We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”

The response, from some quarters was swift — and angry:

“As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman,” said Keith Lewis who runs the Miss California competition. “I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family.”

“It’s ugly,” added Scott Ihrig, who attended the event with his partner. ”I think it’s ridiculous that she got first runner-up. That is not the values of 95 percent of the people in this audience. Look around this audience and tell me how many gay men there are.”

If Prejean’s views are “ugly,” than she’s not alone on the public stage:

During the last presidential campaign President Obama answered the same question by declaring:

“I’m a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.”

Elton John has also weighed in, saying:

“If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership… The word ‘marriage,’ I think, puts a lot of people off. You get the same equal rights that we do when we have a civil partnership. Heterosexual people get married. We can have civil partnerships.”

Whether we agree with Prejean, President Obama and Elton John or not, there is one thing we should all agree upon: All Americans deserve the right to debate issues and disagree with each other without threats, intimidation or ad hominem attacks. — Those who want to convince their fellow citizens about the rightness of their cause can best accomplish that by convincing, not shaming them, into agreeing with them.

I never get political on here but, I thought this article was interesting. I completely agree that "All Americans deserve the right to debate issues and disagree with each other without threats, intimidation or ad hominem attacks." By the way, I agree with Prejean, Obama & Elton John on this issue.

{ Spring Break }

It's Spring Break around here & we've been busy. I love the week away from homework. My sister, Canary, came into town last week with 3 of her kids. We've been having a fun time shopping, crafting & baking. Sadly, she had to leave yesterday. Now I have to figure out what to do with my munchkins since her kids aren't here anymore to entertain them. :)

I picked up a new battery for my camera {Yay! It was just the battery!} So, I was able to take a picture of the results of a new recipe we tried yesterday. The morning light was just coming in the window.

Mmm...yummy! They are called French Breakfast Puffs & they are so good! See, they are rolled in melted butter & cinnamon sugar after they are baked. You can't go wrong with butter & cinnamon sugar. And we made them mini muffin size so they are so cute! We found the recipe on The Pioneer Woman blog. It's a new blog that my friend told me about & she has some terrific recipes & a great story.

I'm finishing up a little craft that I hope to show you soon. Have a great day!

{ Hi }

I wanted you all to know that I have loved blogging, but this will be my last post.....April Fools!!! Did I getcha'? I bet you did think I unplugged permanently since I haven't been here in a while. Nope, I'm still around...for a while at least. Even though I have been absent here on this blog, I still am reading all of yours!

My unplugged day was good. But, I can't say it was life-changing because, I have been so busy lately that I haven't been able to be on the computer as much as I normally am. Oh yeah, and I wouldn't feel right if I didn't tell you that I checked my email twice that day. I did notice that every time I passed my computer I had the urge to check on my favorite blogs to see if they had posted anything new. And, it made me realize that I really do love blogging.

Oh, and I have some sad news. My camera is not working. :( I am totally bummed out about this. I know I keep saying I want a new one but, now is not the time. Recently, there have been a lot of expenses around here. I bought a new computer because miy old one was on it's last leg, I had a $500 mammogram with ultrasound {every thing's fine, phew!} that we had to pay for {why do we pay for insurance?}, and speaking of insurance...ours is going up by over $100 a month because I'm turning 35, and we have a trip planned in May for my hubby's 40th birthday...which I will need a camera for. Ouch! Needless to say, we are on a tight budget right now. I just needed my little dang camera to hold out for a few a bit longer. Oh, well. What d'you do?

Hey! I wanted to tell you about a giveaway that my friend, Victoria, is having. She has a fun blog called The Welcome Mat.

She is a photographer, songwriter, pianist, writer, baker...I could go on and on. This girl's got skills. And she's a good friend.

So, go enter her giveaway, tell her I sent you & enjoy this day of mischevious fun!
